The Character
Name: Brook Dvorak
Nicknames (if any): None
Age & Year: 15 & 5th
Blood: Pure
Wand: 15 inches, mahogany, dragon heartstring core.
Personality:Brook is one of those people that some would call a prat or a little priss because she abides by the rules and enforces them even more. She is a muggle-hater in a way. She won't interract with them unless she really has to. Otherwise, she'll try to avoid them as much as possible, mostly because of her parents reinforcing the pureblood beliefs.
Brook is a bit of a nerd. She loves school and reading and learning about things. She'll often stay up late at night reading her school books or reading some other book of history or some famous person's biography. She also goes a little overboard with her homework, going over what was requested to be written for an essay by a large amount.
She is also nosy a bit. She likes to get into other people's business and find out what they are doing or find out some of their secrets. She really likes to try to get people doing something wrong. She also likes to find out what makes them tick.
Brook keeps to herself sometimes but is otherwise very open with people. She loves being around other people but doesn't like being the center of attention. She also likes being with friends and family.
Appearance:Brook is a relatively tall girl with long, red hair and green eyes. She is quite slender. She is slim but can experience difficulty keeping herself that way because of a medical disorder that runs in her family. (Nothing serious, just a little weight gaining issue.) She goes for jogs a lot to help regulate her weight and eats certain things that also helps. (Not necessarily a diet though because she still eats junk food quite often.)
Since she runs a lot and stays active in many activities she kind of has a little bit of a stressed out look on many occasions. And she looks tired pretty much all of the time. Mostly because she stays up late every night studying or reading some book. She looks older than she actually is. Some say she even looks like her mother a bit even though her mother has completely different facial features. Brook thinks she looks more like her father.
History:When Brook was born 14 years ago her family had been going through a little crisis. Her grandparents had been murdered by a muggle while they were asleep in their beds. Her parents, from then on, never spoke of them. Without her grandparents to help, Brook's parents almost gave her up for a muggle adoption but decided otherwise, not able to part with their only child.
Brook lead a relatively normal wizarding childhood. Her parents told her about being a witch. When she got her Hogwarts letter on her eleventh birthday she was excited, knowing that what her parents had said about her was true. She gladly accepted and attended her first year at Hogwarts. It was exciting, learning all the different biginners spells and potions. Then, when it was time to go home for summer vacation she was sad to leave the school. Howarts was her home away from home.
Her second year was very much like her first. She learned some more basic magic and then later got into magic a little more advanced. This was also the year that she developed her rashness and carelessness towards muggles. Like most Slytherins she showed the same dislikes towards those without magical ancestry and thought herself to be better than them. When her second year ended she left hating even the word muggle.
Her third year was very different. She had new classes and was forced to interract with those she felt to be worthless. But that changed her thinking about muggles. She started to not be so bothered by them. She even started talking to them and making muggle friends. She never told her parents of her change in heart because she was afraid of what they might say about their daughter.
RP Sample: Brook Dvorak was strolling the grounds of Hogwarts, taking in the fresh air and sunshine. She was glad to be back but the first day was bound to be difficult. It was still a couple of hours until her first class, Defense Against the Dark Arts, but she was still a bit nervous about it. After all, this was OWL year, and teachers were bound to start off the year with OWL lectures and long assignments. Brook wasn't worried about the assignments but what they were to study. Were they just going to review the last four years of work or would they be adding new things? Either way she was sure it wouldn't be easy.
Brook walked over towards the lake. How nice it would feel to dip her feet in the nice cool water. But she decided not to, not really knowing why she didn't want to. It would be more enjoyable if she had her friends her to enjoy it with but they were all still inside as far as she knew. She walked over and sat under a tree not to far from the water's edge, gazing out at the lake. The water rustled and a tentacle rose a few feet out of the water then crashed back down. A giant squid lived in the lake but Lily thought nothing of it. She didn't fear it. She had known that it was in there since she had first arrived at Hogwarts.
Brook started to think of home. Sure she missed her family but she was glad to be away. Her parents fought often and she got really tired of listening to them bickering all of the time. At least here she could escape from it all by going outside to the grounds, where she could go for a swim or just walk around the lawn and smell the fresh air.
She closed her eyes to rest them. She was still a bit tired. Maybe she shouldn't have woken up so early this morning but she just couldn't help it. She was used to waking up early in the morning to attend to house chores. Here there weren't any chores to attend to which was a great relief.
