The Character
Name: Katherine Hallaway
Nicknames (if any): Katen, Kat, Katty
Age & Year: 11, 1st year
Blood: Muggle-born
Wand: 8 inch, Elm, Snake's Fang
Personality: Not one to talk much, Katherine tends to have trouble making friends. She is very anti-social and shy. Of course, since she hadn't had any friends to spend time with, much of her time was spent reading and studying. She is a very smart girl, but not a know-it-all. She loves animals of any kind, but spiders scare her to death.
Appearance:
Katherine has reddish/dark blonde hair with intelligent grey-blue eyes. She's about 4"2', and reasonably skinny.
History: Both of Katherine's parents are Muggles, and knew nothing about Hogwarts or magic. They figured the odd happenings that occured whenever Katherine was upset were just coincidences. But Katherine knew they weren't, and she thought that something might have been wrong with her. Her brother, who was three years younger than her, was the first to suggest that it was magic. Of course, since he was so young and immature(Katherine's brother wasn't the most truthful person in the world, either, to put it nicely), the thought was soon dismissed by their parents. But, finally, things were explained when Katherine received the letter from Hogwarts. Her parents, who weren't very fond of the idea, eventually decided to let Katherine attend Hogwarts, wanting her to figure out how to control her, erm, powers.
RP Sample: Katherine examined her wand, fingering it gently. The man at Gregorovich told her some about her wand, and then she read a little bit about it, too. She wasn't at all sure why this wand chose her. 'Perfectly suited for the Dark Arts' she was told. Dark Arts? She'd rather learn about Defence Against the Dark Arts. She was also told that it could be used in any 'spells that cause depression or darkness; it can dull the senses and works well in spells dealing with shadows.' Maybe she was given the wrong wand, because Katherine didn't want anything to do with those spells. But something she was told many, many times was that the wand chooses the wizard, or witch in her case.
